In the tradition of it’s predecessor, “Vampire Life 2″ picks right up where Vampire Life left off. Jim Jones again makes his presence felt through Hip Hop mixtapes , and this concept is really working for him. His style is very dark and street, and you can hear the urgency of his life coming through on every track. In a time when the East Coast has long been overshadowed by the South, it’s good to hear strong NY rap still coming from the Big Apple. Where Jones was a background man in the beginning stages of the Diplomats rise to fame, he has now become a straight-up superstar in his own right.
This whole mixtape is very good, and it may very well pass the first one by in terms of fluidity and solid songs. Standouts are many, but I will mention a few. “Coming From” was my immediate favorite, as it explains how people don’t feel you if they haven’t been where you have been. “60 Stacks” and “True Religion” are both classic ballin Jones tracks, and his wordplay and visuals are crisp as always. My other banger is “Suicide”, where Jones spits, “I got young niggas that bust for me, Fly girls that lust for me, Valet pulled the truck up for me, Still got the .40 tucked on me”. What more can I say to sum it up than that? Vampire Life as it’s finest. Click here to purchase Jim Jones mixtapes ……
